October 2005, Youth, Music, Social care for children and Education have joined together to become the new Children’s service. This change has taken place in response to The Children Act 2004, and the subsequent government paper “
Every Child Matters: Change for Children”, published in November 2004, details of which can be found at

School Admissions has joined a pilot scheme launched by the Office of The Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). We have developed a facility for parents/carers to apply online for a primary or secondary school for September 2006. SScAMP forms an integral part of the Council’s Capital Strategy providing the basis for prioritising needs and determining the respective responsibilities of the LEA, schools and, diocesan education boards.
To aid schools in making decisions about the management of property, relevant property data is available for each individual school.
